Abyja (Core Reporters) The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has said that federal lawmakers do not only receive but also give back to the society.
This was sequel to a motion of national important moved by Senator Adamu Aliero on the floor of the red chambers on Wednesday morning.
Coming from order 42, Senator Aliero has informed the Senate that the federal road that lead the southern part of the country to his state Kebbi was on a bad state and the contractors handling it abandoned it as such coupled with calls from road users within his constituency he engaged private contractors and got the road repaired.
Aliero said, “Though I used my personal money to repaired the road as part of my contribution to the society, I am not in any way asking for the refund.
“I did that because I want Nigerians to know that we senators do not only collect money but also give back to the society, “ he said.
He also said, “Senators do not only move motions and sponsor bills but we also engaged in road repair in our various states and other things to enhance living conditions of our people.”
