Nigeria President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR is slated to declare the Big Sports Dialogue 1.0 open on Monday in Lagos, organizers say.

The dialogue is designed to address pressing issues plaguing Nigerian sports and to reshape the country’s sports ecosystem. It aims to bring together key stakeholders and policymakers to chart a path for a more vibrant and sustainable sporting sector.

Leading voices at the event include:

Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), and the NSC’s Director-General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, Director-General of the National Institute of Sports, Mike Itemuagbor, a renowned sports marketing expert, Igoche Mark, prominent basketball promoter, Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, seasoned journalist, Rufai Oseni, Arise TV morning show host, Amaju Pinnick, former president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF)

Additional speakers include: Bar. Chris Green, Commissioner of Sports for Rivers State, Aisha Falode, ace sportscaster and NFF board member Steve Oshio, Abubakar Lawal, Bashire Are, and Ruben Abati, a well known and respected journalist.

Osaze Ebueku, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, described the event as a “call to action for all Nigerians to come together and shape the future of sports in the country.”

Organizers say the dialogue will feature high-level discussions, policy recommendations, and partnerships aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s sports infrastructure, governance, funding, talent development, and international competitiveness.
