The Senate Committee Chairman on Finance, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa has queried Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for their continuously withholding of generated revenue instead of paying into the Consolidated Revenue Account of the federal government.

Sen. Musa speaking on  day three of the ongoing public hearing of the Senate joint committee on Finance; Appropriations, National Planning and Economic Affairs; and Local and Foreign Debts on 2024-26 Medium -Term Expenditure Framework MTEL and Fiscal Strategy paper (FSP) said, they must take the issue of revenue very serious because MDAs have formed the habit of withholding generated revenue without taking to the CRA.

“I can’t understand why you (MDAs) collect revenue and you can’t send it to the consolidated revenue account of the federal government

“You keep this money-knowing too well that the budget is predicated on the revenue,” he said.
