Jaja, Jaji Substations Get Upgraded Power Transformers–TCN

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said its Kaduna Region has received two 150MVA 330/132/33kV power transformers at the Jaja Transmission Substation in Kudan Local Government Area and two 66MVA 132/33kV power transformers at the Jaji Substation in Igabi Local Government Area, both in Kaduna State, on Monday, 2nd March 2026.

TCN said the two substation projects strategically designed to enhance power supply reliability and expand transmission capacity across the North-West region are funded by the African Development Bank (AFDB). “The projects have reached an advanced stage, generating optimism among TCN and community stakeholders.”

“When completed, the Jaja 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation will be linked to the 330kV Kano Transmission Line, a critical connection that will significantly reinforce transmission capacity in the region”.

Core Reporters report that the new substations will equally help to reduce power outages, improve voltage stability, and ensure a more reliable bulk electricity supply to distribution load centres for delivery to electricity customers across Kano State and neighbouring areas.
