Abuja (Core Reporters) Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged stakeholders in Nigeria’s printing industry to embrace unity, reconciliation and collaboration as essential ingredients for sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
The Minister made the call on Tuesday at the Nigeria Print Industry Stakeholders’ Summit 2026, themed “From Resolution to Renaissance,” held in Abuja.
He described the recent resolution of the leadership dispute within the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) as a turning point for the industry, urging members to unite behind the Institute’s leadership to reposition the profession and unlock its vast economic potential.
He said, “History has given you an opportunity to reposition this industry. Please seize it, work together and support the leadership so that collectively you can move the profession forward.”
Reflecting on his assumption of office, Idris recalled that the CIPPON leadership crisis was among the first issues brought to his attention. He explained that his intervention was guided by the belief that dialogue, reconciliation and cooperation would produce better outcomes than prolonged litigation.
The Minister described the printing industry as a vital contributor to economic growth and job creation, noting that a united industry would be better positioned to attract government support and policy interventions.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the Institute through collaboration with relevant agencies to strengthen professional standards, improve the operating environment and enhance the industry’s contribution to national development.
Idris also urged the Institute’s leadership to carry every stakeholder along, regardless of past differences, stressing that inclusive leadership would promote lasting peace and leave a strong legacy for future generations.
He further encouraged practitioners to embrace technological innovation to remain competitive in an increasingly digital world.
Earlier, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON), Mr. Koko T. Clement, highlighted the achievements recorded since the inauguration of the current Governing Council in December 2025.
He said the Institute had strengthened engagement with key government institutions to improve professional standards, industry regulation and policies that would drive the growth of Nigeria’s printing sector.
He called on all stakeholders to work together in peace and mutual understanding, emphasizing that unity remains the foundation for the industry’s continued progress.
The summit was attended by industry leaders, senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, and other stakeholders from the printing and packaging sector.
