Abuja (Core Reporters) Nigerian House of Representatives Minority Caucus has paid a tribute to their fallen colleague, Rt. Hon. Adewumi Oriyomi Onanuga who passed on Tuesday, January 15, 2025.

Deputy Minority Leader and Rt. Hon. George Ozodinobi, Deputy Minority Whip and made available to Core Reporters on Friday, the Caucus of the House of Representatives expressed deepest condolences to the Leadership and entire Members of the 10th House over the untimely demise of Onanuga.
The statement reads in parts, “It is with heavy heart, deep sorrows, and tearful pains that we, on behalf of the Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives, express our deepest condolences to the Leadership and entire Members of the 10th House over the untimely demise of the Deputy Chief Whip, Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, which sad incident occurred on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 after a brief illness.
“As a Caucus, and Members of the 10th House, we are personally touched, heartbroken, and extremely sad over the passing of an outstanding lawmaker, and resourceful politician, whose passion for good governance, and interest in the personal development of people were unequivocal. No doubt, the House have lost a valuable asset whose unique contributions to debates, and assignment, unflinching forthrightness on developmental issues, and unrestrained support for all; regardless of party affinity, ethnicity, and religion were unparalleled. She was a natural bridge-builder, resilient politician, and altruistic personality who at all times, exhibited unusual interest, and uncommon support in the realization of the 10th House Legislative Agenda, and personal development of Members.
“Though very painful that we lost her at a time when her unfeigned interventions to national development and meaningful transformation of Nigeria are most needed, we take solace in the fact that while in the House of Representatives, she distinguished herself creditably. As the Deputy Chief Whip, and Member representing the people of Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, she performed her duties with grace, selflessness, and excellence. She will be remembered for her candour, boldness, insights, and ingenuity towards national cohesion, sustained advocacy for the emancipation of women, youths, and ordinary Nigerians.
“From our interactions with her as members of the Leadership, and colleagues in the 10th House of Representatives, she was very dedicated and committed to her responsibilities.Through her legislative position, and various intervention initiatives, Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga positively touched the lives of people not only in her constituency but in Ogun state, across the South West zone, and Nigeria. It is gratifying that she was a beacon of hope, source of inspiration, and shinning light to diverse people.
“Though pained about her shocking eclipse from earth but as mere mortals, we submit to the tenets of the Almighty; who gives and takes when He wills. Also, we pray that God will not only repose her soul but grant her eternal peace. It is our prayers that our Creator will not only comfort her immediate and entire family, but grant us all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, Amen.
