Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has urged entrepreneurs and other people interested in agriculture to take a cue from the 3000 hectares Shabu Integrated Farms, owned by the first executive governor of the state, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Engineer Sule made the plea shortly after going round the Shabu Integrated Farms, located in Shabu, Agwada Development Area, on Friday.

The Governor who was highly impressed by what he saw on the farm, called on all those who are interested in commercial agriculture to invest in the state, with a view to helping Nasarawa State in the areas of generating employment, as well as revenue.

While congratulating Senator Adamu for the feat, Engineer Sule further commended the former governor for embarking on such elaborate venture, comprising fish farming, banana plantation, yam cultivation, turmeric, ginger, soya beans, as well as maize.

The Governor specifically commended the greenhouses where tomatoes and pepper are being cultivated, describing the facility as comparable to what obtains only in Holland.

“This is an opportunity for other entrepreneurs and other people who are interested in agriculture to help our state because by the time this farm is fully ready for harvest, you will be amazed at the total number of people that will be employed.

“And by the time everything is fully incubated, federal  and state government support come to this farm, imagine the kind of revenue the state will also generate,” Engineer Sule stated.

In his respond, Senator Abdulahi Adamu, thanked the Governor for showing more than ordinary interest in promoting agriculture in the state.

Senator Adamu, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture, expressed satisfaction that within the short period the Governor came into power, he has attracted commercial farmers into the state.

“Only God knows the extent of opportunities that he brought, the opportunities for rural microeconomics that agriculture will impact on the general economy of the state,” the lawmaker said.
