Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, disclosed this while signing into law, the 2021 Appropriation Bill, at a ceremony at the Government House, on Wednesday.

According to Engineer Sule,  Nigeria’s former Minister of Health,  Dr. Mohammed Pate, who was previously with the Bill Gates Foundation but now working with the United Nations, impressed by the infectious diseases control centre recently commissioned by the Nasarawa State Government, introduced Engineer Sule to the World Medical Relief.

The Governor explained that Dr. Pate specifically introduced him to the Chairman of the World Medical Relief, George Sampson, as well as the Health Ambassador, Charles Amanze, who are all committed to supporting the state free of charge with equipment to be used at the diseases control centre.

Gov. Sule equally disclosed that Dr. Pate also introduced him to African Research Excellence Fund, which agreed to offer training for medical doctors that will handle the equipment to be supplied by the World Medical Relief.

The Governor added that by February or March next year, the State Deputy Governor,  Dr. Emmanuel Akabe,  the Commissioner for Health,  Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya and some other medical staff, will visit Detroit in Michigan, in order to select the kind of equipment required at the diseases control centre.

Also, the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Health may select doctors who will undergo training sponsored by the African Research Excellence Fund in the United Kingdom.

The Governor used the opportunity to thank Dr. Pate and all those that assisted to make the state benefit from the two separate gestures.
