Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of Ekiti state returning his forms to the party leardership
Ekiti Guber: No Polling Unit on Social Media – Ekiti State Governor Makes Jest of Opponents

Abuja (Core Reporters) Ahead of the October 27, 2025, All Progressives Congress (APC) Ekiti governorship primaries, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has warned his opponents not to bank on social media endorsement and ranting, saying that “there is no polling unit on social media.”

BAO, as Governor Oyebanji is popularly called by his admirers, gave the warning on Wednesday, September 10, at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, where he submitted his nomination forms amid a carnival-like reception.
While addressing a mammoth crowd that accompanied him to the APC national secretariat to submit his form, Oyebanji noted that he spent his first year in office completing all the projects by his predecessor, unlike average Nigerian leaders. He added that there has been massive infrastructural development in the state within the last three years, including electricity access, healthcare, pensions, and workforce reforms, among others.
However, while fielding questions from journalists on what Ekiti people should expect if he secures a second term, BAO promised to consolidate on his earlier achievements – continuity, shared prosperity, and innovation. He also said that education reform remains his biggest unfinished priority.
“I desire a society where every secondary school has electronic boards, where our children are prepared for the challenges of the 21st century. That is where my focus will be in the next administration,” he said.
Oyebanji swiftly countered allegations of division within the APC and rumors of links with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing them as cheap talk. He added that the crowd that came with him to the APC national secretariat are the crème de la crème of Ekiti State APC, therefore, wondered who else was remaining out there to form a division.
“You are seeing here today with all leaders, stakeholders, and former governors united; APC is not a divided party in Ekiti,” he declared.
Also speaking, the Nigerian Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, assured that the governor has done well in the state in the last three years and deserves another four years to complete what he has started in the state. He reinforced Oyebanji’s stance on party unity in the state, stressing that the Ekiti APC remained the strongest in the country.
“Regardless of what anybody says, this state is united behind Governor Oyebanji. All three senators, six House of Representatives members, 26 state assembly members, and every local government chairman are standing with him. Even PDP factions are now backing him. By the grace of God, October 27 primaries are a done deal,” Bamidele asserted.
The Senate Leader added that Oyebanji’s performance in infrastructure, human capital development, and peace-building had earned him rare bipartisan support, citing the endorsements of former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s allies and ex-Senator Biodun Olujimi, both now backing Oyebanji.
