The Benue State police command Monday, arraigned a 40-year-old business man, Sunday Achir of Tse – Agberagba in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, for alleged rape of an 11-year-old girl, (name withheld) of the same address.
The prosecuting police officer, Asp Hyacinth Gbakor told the court that on the 3rd of July, 2020 brother to the victim, Daniel Kasua of Tse – Agberagba came to the police and reported that on June 22, 2020, his sister of the same address went to the market to assist the grandmother and on her way back home, the accused held and dragged her into his room and had canal knowledge with her without her consent.
During police investigation, the accused was arrested for committing the alleged crime.
No plea was taken for want of jurisdiction while prosecution said investigation was still in progress and asked for another date.
Corereporters report that the Chief Magistrate, Mr Vincent IKor ordered that the accused be remanded at the Makurdi Correctional Center and adjourned the case to September 14, 2020 for further mention.
