Abuja (Core Reporters) National Sports Commission Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko has reiterated the importance of the National Institute for Sports (NIS) in the actualization of the Commission’s vision to reset, reform and relaunch Nigerian sports. Mallam Dikko spoke while welcoming the newly appointed Director-General of NIS His Excellency Comr. Philip Shuaibu to the NSC Headquarters.

Comr. Shuaibu was at the NSC Headquarters to inform the NSC Chairman of his resumption while both parties held discussions on how to deliver on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s mandate.

The NSC Chairman applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for the appointment of Comr. Shuaibu.

His words, “I must thank most sincerely President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for once again taking the road less traveled with this appointment. Mr. President is embarking on a reform. He is resetting many sectors including sports so there is a need to take decisions that will drive this vision. This (Comr. Shuaibu’s appointment) is one of the decisions that will truly support the ongoing reforms in the sports sector .”

He highlighted the pivotal role of NIS in the current sporting dispensation.

“The NIS is key to our vision in the Commission because it will give us the manpower and research needed to accelerate the vision. We are doing things differently because only mad men will keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Therefore it is pleasing that Mr. President has chosen an administrator who has delivered in all his assignments, and now strategically positioned him to turn around the NIS to meet its intended mandate within the sports sector. Mr President has chosen three good friends to hold three critical positions to turn around sports in Nigeria”, he said.

Mallam Dikko is optimistic that Comr. Shuaibu will succeed in new assignment.

“All I can say is welcome to the family. You have been part of this family before but now you are a key part of the NSC vision. I am sure Mr. President will be happy at the end of the day because you have always delivered on your assignments beyond expectation. We have to work collectively to deliver on the mandate. We have discussed privately and aligned our visions and thoughts and articulated how we will collectively deliver on the President’s mandate”, he concluded.

Earlier, Comr. Shuaibu had pledged his commitment to the NSC Chairman to actualize the Presidential mandate.

“I came to tell the NSC Chairman that I have resumed. I have had discussions with him and it is obvious that sports is headed in the right direction in this country. We will work to ensure that the renewed hope vision of the President will be visible in the sporting sector”, he enthused.
