CP Shetima Visits Udege Attack Scene, Orders Manhunt for Killers
The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has visited Udege Development Area in Nasarawa Local Government Area following a deadly communal attack that claimed lives and destroyed property.

During his visit to the affected communities of Akyawa and Udege Kasa on April 3, 2026, the police chief expressed deep sorrow over the incident, which left eleven persons dead and several homes razed. He commiserated with the bereaved families and the wider community, assuring them of the Command’s firm commitment to ensuring justice is served.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of the same day, is believed to be a reprisal by suspected hoodlums over the alleged killing of two of their kinsmen. In the violence, eleven persons lost their lives, while about fifty houses were burnt in Akyawa and two others in Udege Kasa.
In response, CP Shetima ordered a full-scale manhunt for those responsible, directing tactical and investigative teams to swiftly identify, apprehend, and prosecute the perpetrators.
To forestall further breakdown of law and order, he also ordered reinforced security deployment in collaboration with the Military and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), aimed at restoring and sustaining peace in the area.
A stakeholders’ meeting was convened during the visit, where the Commissioner urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and to support security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing investigations.
The Command reassured the public that normalcy has been restored, with proactive measures in place to prevent any recurrence of violence.
