The police charged Wisdom, 21 of Yimi Village, Zuba with a criminal breach of trust and cheating, but the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Area Court judge, Gambo Garba, then ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Suleja, Niger State.

Garba adjourned the matter untill May 15.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Chinedu Ogada told the court that on Dec. 31, 2021, the complainant, Ekaite Okon of Yimi village Zuba reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station.

Ogada said that on Dec 14, the complainant gave the defendant her android phone worth N85, 000 for repair and deposited N1, 500 as part payment.

He said that the defendant criminally sold the complainant’s phone and converted the money to his personal use.

The prosecutor said during the police investigations, all effort to recover the  phone failed.

Ogada said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
