The management of Plateau United Football Club of Jos says fans will not be allowed into the Jos international stadium to watch its preliminary first leg tie against Simba SC of Tanzania, Sunday.
General Manager of the club, Pius Henwan who disclosed this on Saturday in Jos ahead of the Sunday match said that the National Centre for Disease Control and the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 are yet to approve their request to have fans in the stadium.
Consequently, Henwan stated that as a law abiding club, they would not do anything that would violate the order which may put the lives of the club’s most cherished fans and spectators at risk.
In a press statement by the club media officer, Albert Dakup, the GM While regretting the disappointment this decision might caused the general public especially the supporters’ club, he appealed for understanding and urged fans to accept it in good faith and pray for the team to ensure a resounding victory against their visitors.
He however stressed that all categories of persons who will be covering the match such as the Press, Nigeria Football Federation NFF, the Plateau State Football Association as well as invited VIPs will only be allowed into the stadium after properly identifying themselves through a valid accreditation card.
The statement warned that unauthorized persons to stay away from the stadium in their own interest as security agencies have been properly briefed.
Meanwhile, Plateau United FC of Jos will play host to Simba SC of Tanzania at the Jos international stadium Sunday at 4pm.
