The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reaffirmed that Dr. Stephen Odey was the winner of Saturday’s Cross River North Senatorial Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries.

Mr Emmanuel Alex Hart, INEC’s Cross River Resident Electoral Commissioner, on Monday forwarded the Commission’s report on the election which held  September 5, 2020 in Ogoja, to the chairman of the commission in Abuja.

Corereporters report that the report which authenticates Dr Stephen Odey as the candidate of PDP in the forthcoming Cross River North Senatorial District bye-election, observed that the primary election was free, fair and transparent adding that it complied with the commission’s electoral guidelines.

The report which was exclusively obtained at INEC’s headquarters, Abuja invalidates any other documents in circulation purporting that Dr Odey wasn’t the winner of the September 5, 2020 senatorial primaries.

In a letter dated September 7, 2020 which was signed by INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Cross River State and addressed to the chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the report contained unbiased and factual account of INEC’s Electoral Officers (field officers) of the five Local Government Areas of the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State in respect of the Peoples Democratic Party Cross River North Senatorial Bye-election held on September 5, 2020.

In the same vein, PDP NWC currently meting in Abuja also reaffirmed Odey’s victory of Saturday C’River North Senatorial District primaries ahead of the Senatorial bye-election.
