The captain of Plateau United Football Club of Jos, Elisha Golbe has allegedly turned down a 5000 US dollars bribe from their opponents Simba Sports Club of Tanzania ahead of their CAF Champions League first leg encounter in Jos on Sunday.

The allegedbribe according to the report was to enable the captain to share with some of hiscolleagues so that the away team can pick an away win from Jos. But Golbe beinga patriotic and a committed player to the club rejected the offer without equivocation.

We gathered that the club used their nationals in Jos to penetrate the skipper but unfortunately they met a bricks wall.

The Tanzanian championsarrived in Nigeria on Wednesday and proceeded to Jos ahead of Sunday’s encounter withtheir hosts. The encounter happens to be the first ever meeting between thesides.

In reaction, one of the top officials of Simba SC who spoke to this reporter under the condition of anonymity in Jos shortly after their first training session said, there was nothing like that and there would be nothing like that either now or in the near future.

According to the official, “We came here just yesterday so how can we have done a thing like that when we don’t even know if our people, Tanzianians are even living here?

“We are here to secure a point in this match, we know it’s not going to be easy but nothing is impossible,” the official said.

Meanwhile, Corereporters report that united players felt insulted with the alleged attempt to bribe them and have vowed to show no mercy to their visitors on Sunday when both teams square up against each other.
