The Benue State Head of Service, Mrs. Veronica Onyeke has revealed that the state civil service has a number of limited staff due to the non-employment of new staff by the state government.
Mrs. Onyeke made the revelation on Friday in Makurdi when leadership of the Benue State House of Assembly Commission paid a courtesy call on her in her office, requesting for the deployment of staff to the newly inaugurated commission.
She said, “we are short of staff now since the government is not employing,” stressing that “we can only send executive officers to you not administrative staff because we have a limited number of the staffer.” She maintained.
The HoS who praised the leadership of the Assembly Commission for their well-deserved appointment as it was based on their hard work and integrity, assured that her office will do everything within its powers to see that the commission achieves their required mandate, and advised them to employ their staff as well.
Earlier, the Chairman of the commission, Hon Sylvester Atachin said they were in the HoS office, to seek her advice and cooperation with the common objective, to move the state forward.
Hon Atachin informed that the success of the commission’s mandate depended largely on the office of the HoS and requested for her cooperation and synergy.
Corereporters reports that the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Administration, Mr. Ode Ochelle stated that although, they were constrained with the challenges of inadequate staff, assured that they would assist the commission to succeed.
