The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has expressed his gratitude to the people of Kano State for their continuous support to the Nigerian Army (NA) and other security agencies. He made this statement during the commissioning ceremony of the newly renovated Fagge Model Primary School in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State on October 4, 2023.
The COAS, represented by Major General Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division NA and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, emphasized the importance of non-kinetic operations in host communities where military operations are conducted. He encouraged the people of the state to provide timely and useful information to the NA, and other security agencies, enabling them to create a safe and secure environment for socio-economic activities.
He highlighted the NA’s non-kinetic efforts in addressing the country’s multifaceted security challenges, including the renovation of the school, provision of desks and seats, furnishing of laboratories and computer rooms, installation of solar panels, and other critical facilities. He mentioned that over 170 CIMIC (Civil-Military Cooperation) projects have been completed by the NA across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
The COAS thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic guidance and support, pledging the unalloyed loyalty of NA officers and soldiers to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Representatives of the Kano State government and local authorities commended the school’s architectural improvements and stressed the importance of education to society. They expressed gratitude to the COAS for the renovation project.
The project executor, Major General Auwal Fagge, and the Chairman of Fagge Local Government Area, Hon Shehu Ibrahim, also thanked the NA for its contribution to the community’s development.
The event included cultural displays by the pupils, the cutting of the commissioning tape, unveiling of the commissioning plaque, a tour of the newly commissioned project, the presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
