Appointment of Caretaker Committee, MOUN Accuses NLC Leadership of Lawlessness
By Raphael Ekpang
Motocycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) has accused the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) of lawlessness.
This was contained in a letter scooped by Core Reporters, dated 6th November, 2024, which is addressed to Comrade Joe Ajaero, National President of NLC and signed by Comrade Chief Julius Oghenevwegba Bobi, MOUN National President.
In the letter MOUN noted that the action of NLC with regards to the appointment of Caretaker committee for the union was a clear disregard for the court’s orders and the ongoing subjudice matter, therefore, count it as provocative..
However, MOUN called on the NLC leadership to learn how to respect the court’s directives on its internal matter and refrain from further interfering with the subjudice matter. Adding that they should maintain decorum and avoid exacerbating the situation.
The letter reads in parts, “We are compelled to address your recent appointment of a caretaker committee for our union, MOUN. This action is a clear disregard for the court’s orders and the ongoing subjudice matter.
“Your actions are not only provocative but also border on lawlessness, potentially leading to contempt of court and a breakdown in law and order. We urge you to respect the court’s directives and refrain from further interfering with the subjudice matter.
“We implore you to maintain decorum and avoid exacerbating the situation. As the wise saying goes, ‘a word is enough for the wise.’ We appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a resolution that upholds the rule of law,” the letter read.
