APC Stakeholders Petition Tinubu, Yilwatda Over Alleged Irregularities in Ekiti North II Primaries
By Core Reporters
As reactions continue to trail the direct primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress across the country, some stakeholders of the party in Ekiti State have called on Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s national leadership to urgently intervene to save the party from deepening internal crisis in the state.
The appeal came as the Ekiti Network of Asiwaju Youths (ENAYo), a prominent pro-Tinubu support group in the state, alleged widespread irregularities during the conduct of the party’s primaries, particularly in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II.
The group claimed that elections were not conducted in several wards within the constituency, yet results were allegedly written and announced in favour of certain candidates.
Ekiti North Federal Constituency II comprises Ido-Osi, Ilejemeje and Moba local government areas and is currently represented in the House of Representatives by Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole.
In an open letter addressed to President Tinubu and signed by the Coordinator of the Concerned Ekiti APC Stakeholders, Alhaji AbdulRaman Agboola, alongside the Secretary, Hon. Daniel Fatoriji, the group described the alleged manipulation of results as “undemocratic and unprogressive.”
According to the stakeholders, the alleged practice of declaring results in areas where no election was held poses a serious threat to the unity and stability of the party in the state.
“We are raising this alarm because we are foundation members of the party in Ekiti State and remain committed to preserving its integrity ahead of future elections,” the letter stated.
The group specifically urged President Tinubu and APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, to intervene before the situation escalates.
The stakeholders also alleged that political actors targeted supporters of Rep. Kolawole during the exercise, including the arrest of his media aide, Ibitola Babatope, popularly known as Sugarito, on the eve of the primaries.
They further claimed that elections did not take place in several wards considered strongholds of the lawmaker, including parts of Ido-Osi and Ilejemeje LGAs, while results announced at the state collation centre allegedly differed from those obtained at polling units.
Similarly, ENAYo, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Comrade Joseph Olaitan, called on the national leadership of the APC to reject any result emerging from Ekiti North Federal Constituency II.
The group alleged that party members and supporters were denied the opportunity to vote in some wards after electoral materials were allegedly hijacked.
According to ENAYo, available video evidence and result sheets indicate that Rep. Kolawole won in areas where elections were properly conducted, contrary to the final results announced at the state collation centre.
The group also condemned the continued detention of Babatope, describing it as politically motivated.
While reaffirming support for President Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, the youth group warned that attempts to impose candidates against the wishes of party members could deepen discontent within the party if not urgently addressed.
