APC Extends E-Registration Deadline, Announces Congresses, National Convention Dates
…Exempts Four States From February Congresses
By Raphael Ekpang
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the extension of the party’s nationwide membership e-registration exercise and announced the schedule for its congresses and national convention.
The decisions were taken at the 133rd meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party held on Friday, January 30, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
Addressing journalists shortly after the NWC meeting the party national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, said the NWC resolved in its meeting to extend the deadline for the ongoing membership e-registration exercise from 31 January 2026 to 8 February 2026.
He said the extension follows appeals from party stakeholders across the states, including the Progressive Governors’ Forum, in response to the overwhelming turnout of Nigerians eager to register as members of the APC.
Morka noted that the exercise has recorded unprecedented success nationwide, with millions of members already captured on the digital platform.
Congress and National Convention Schedule
Meanwhile he stated that Ward, Local Government and State Congresses: have been rescheduled for Wednesday, 18 February 2026 while the National Convention is slated for 27–28 March 2026.
He also announced that Osun, Ekiti, Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been exempted from the congresses.
According to him, the exemptions are based on the following considerations: “Osun, Ekiti and the FCT are preparing for forthcoming elections; congresses in these areas will be conducted after the elections.
“Rivers State previously held off-cycle congresses in 2025, and the tenure of the elected executives is still subsisting. Fresh congresses will be scheduled at the expiration of that tenure.”
On the National Convention Coordinating Committee, Morka said, the National Working Committee also approved the composition of the Coordinating Committee for the 2026 APC National Convention.
“The full list of committee members, including the chairman and leadership structure, will be released on Monday.”
In line with its commitment to transparency and innovation, the APC announced that applications for participation in the upcoming congresses will be made available online, further strengthening the party’s digital transformation agenda.
APC disclosed that membership has continued to grow significantly, with registrations exceeding seven million (7m) members nationwide and projections indicating that the party could surpass 12.5 million registered members by the close of registration on 8 February 2026.
The APC called on all party leaders, members and supporters across the federation to intensify mobilisation efforts and encourage eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to take advantage of the extended registration window.
The National Working Committee expressed appreciation to members nationwide for their continued confidence, commitment and support.
