Anambra South PDP gubernatorial aspirants insist on zoning pact …Pledge support to whoever emerges as party candidate

Ahead of the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, the gubernatorial aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Anambra South senatorial district have reiterated their support to the zoning arrangement in the party.

In a communique issued at the end of their meeting on Sunday, the PDP Anambra south gubernatorial aspirants in the forthcoming governorship election said, they are going to support whoever emerges as the party candidate from among them.

They also appreciated the National working Committee (NWC) of the party for understanding the party mode of operation in the state, while acknowledging the support from members of the national and state assembly.

According to them,”We reaffirmed that the next governor of Anambra state in the forthcoming gubernatorial election shall emerge from the Anambra south senatorial district in line with the existing zoning arrangement in the state.

“That any aspirants that emerge from Anambra senatorial district through a free, fair, transparent and credible primaries shall be supported by all of us.

“That we appreciate the leaders, stakeholders, national and state assembly members for their good will messages sent for this meeting.

“We appreciate the national working committee (NWC) of the PDP for the timely intervention and for correcting the erroneous statement credited to them which portrayed the party as an anti-zoning in Anambra state.

Corereporters reported that Chief Ugochukwu Okeke (Enyioha) is one of the governorship aspirants from Anambra South.

It could be recalled that, since 1999 when the present political dispensation took off, there has been no dull moment in Anambra politics. Those that have piloted the affairs of the state include; Dr. Cinwoke Mbadinuju , Anambra South, Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige, Anambra Central, Mr. Peter obi, Anambra Central, Chief Willie Obiano,  Anambra North, Senator Andy Ubah,  Anambra South who occupied the position for a very brief period.
