The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Medical Director, Federal Medical Center Keffi, Dr Yahaya Baba Adamu, has reacted to the rumours making the round of an alleged bribery and job racketeering going on under his nose at the center, saying that the police are currently carrying out investigation over the issue to ascertain the true position of things.

Dr. Adamu refused to state categorically whether the allegation was true or falls, but he noted that since the police has invited some management staff of the center and also they (FMC) have set up a committee to that effect, they will wait until the reports are out before giving a categorical statement on the allegation.

However, Core Reporters gathered that   some staff of Federal Medical Center Keffi in the office of the Head of Administration were allegedly involved in job recketeering to the tune of millions of naira.

This is coming on the heels of an outburst from some applicants who had applied for employment in the federal tertiary health care facility in Keffi.

Investigation into the alleged involvement of the staff of the administrative department reveals that no fewer than 5 persons were said to be kingpins in the shady and the unethical conduct.

A source at the FMC revealed to Core Reporters that some of the applicants allegedly paid one million naira, while some paid in hundred of thousands under the pretext that they will be offered employment letters .

The source further disclosed that upon the investigation, one of the culprit name withheld was found to be in possession of over Two Hundred Million (200,000,000) Naira.

Further findings had it that the issue of job recketeering has been on for some years in the FMC Keffi where the administrative staff enriches themselves with.

Core Reporters investigation shows that those involved have been invited by the Police Area Command in Keffi for questioning, while some of the staff fingered are currently under interrogation at the state Police command, Lafia.

We can authoritatively report that the issue of job recketeering date back to 2014 when the FMC Keffi was granted a waiver for employment by the mother ministry, the Federal Ministry of Health Abuja, but some top management staff were not aware of due to the over confidence they reposed in their staff and aides.

Dr Adamu said, “I can not say in clear terms that the matter is true or not because some of the staff of the FMC Keffi were invited by the Police and as a management we have set up a committee which untill the outcome of their findings i can not be categorical on the rumour , untill the outcome of the investigations.

” So, as I speak to you the police are carrying out their interrogation and we have also set up a committee on that, except otherwise it is established to be true or not, I can not at this point say any thing.

” This is an administrative thing and is not that we are folding our hands against it , but untill proven to be true or a mere rumour I can not preempt the ongoing investigations,” he said.
