Abuja to Host 8th Nigeria–EU Ministerial Dialogue
Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, will host the 8th Nigeria–European Union (EU) Ministerial Dialogue on Monday, March 23, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
In a statement signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will lead the Nigerian delegation. The European Union delegation will be led by Kaja Kallas, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
Kallas is scheduled to arrive in Abuja on Sunday, March 22, 2026. During her visit, she will hold a bilateral meeting with Tuggar aimed at reviewing Nigeria–EU relations and advancing cooperation across key sectors of mutual interest.
She is also expected to pay a courtesy visit to the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of high-level engagements to further strengthen diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the European Union.
Following the ministerial meeting, both leaders will address the media at a joint press briefing, where key outcomes of the dialogue and areas of enhanced cooperation will be outlined.
The 8th Nigeria–EU Ministerial Dialogue will serve as a platform to deepen engagement in critical areas including trade and investment, security cooperation, governance, migration, climate action, and sustainable development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the European Union, expressing optimism for a productive and forward-looking engagement.
