The high-level delegations at the event included the DTRA team led by Major Brittany Brown; the ONSA team led by Mrs. Pamela West; and the EOD-CBRN Command led by CP Hauwa Ibrahim.

The workshop marked the culmination of an intensive Train-the-Trainers initiative designed to institutionalize specialized C-WMD knowledge, enhancing Nigeria’s capacity to prevent, detect, respond to, and investigate CBRN and explosive threats effectively.

Declaring the workshop open on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, underscored the strategic necessity of the initiative, noting that the evolving nature of weapons of mass destruction demands proactive policing, continuous operational training, and deeper inter-agency and international collaboration. He described the workshop as a critical investment in the Force’s operational readiness to safeguard lives, protect critical infrastructure, and fortify Nigeria’s broader security architecture.

DIG Nadada conveyed the Inspector-General’s deep appreciation to both DTRA and ONSA for their support, and charged all participants to maintain high standards of professionalism and cascade the acquired expertise across the Force.

In her vote of thanks, CP Hauwa Ibrahim expressed gratitude to DTRA and ONSA for their partnership in developing the curriculum, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to fully integrating the C-WMD framework into standard police training while advocating for continued collaboration in specialized equipment procurement, technical assistance, and advanced capacity building.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its dedication to fostering inter-agency synergies and international partnerships, reiterating its commitment to strengthening specialized operational capacity across its commands in line with global standards.
