The spokesman of the Sardauna Forum of Nigeria, High Chief Enoch N. Fada (Sardauna Koro Baban) has called on the state governors to support the youths vying for elective positions in the 2023 general elections in their various states.
High Chief Fada made the call during an interactive session with journalists on Friday in Abuja.
According to him, the call has become imperative taking into cognizance the fact that the future of any country belongs to the youths, saying that Nigeria can only move forward when the youths are given their rightful place in governance.
He added that all over the world the youths are dictating the pace in their economic, political, and socio-cultural lives but only in Nigeria youths are relegated to the background, a situation he said, was responsible for the current challenges we now faced.
The Sardauna Koro Baban of Kurmi Dangana, Kagorko LGA, Kaduna South, Kaduna State in this passionate appeal to the various state governors said, the easiest way to restore peace in the country was to engage the youths positively and push them to the front in governance so that the elderly ones that have gotten the experiences over the years will guide them through.
He queried a situation when men in their late seventies, eighties, and nineties are still struggling to rule the country as president, governors, Senators, and even house of representatives and assembly.
However, the southern Kaduna chief, called on the youths to re-strategize ahead of the 2023 general elections, adding that if the youths get it right in 2023 by supporting a candidate who will structure his government around them and support a relatively young youth to take over from him subsequently that would be the beginning of good things to come in the country.
“A nation that does not recognize the youths will never grow. Can you compare France and Nigeria? In 2017 they elected Emmanuel Macron as their president who was less than forty years of age and now in his second tenure, are they not better than Nigeria, who says our youths cannot do, even better than him?
“Prior to his presidency, he served as Minister of Economics, Industries, and Digital Affairs between 2014 and 2016. But in Nigeria today, those who ordinarily should be advising their great-grandchildren and grandchildren are the ones putting themselves up for elective positions, how can such a society grows?” he queried.
