Like a saying goes, there are different strokes for different folks, Casket makers mostly in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have revealed that the year 2020 was a boom in their business, which they claimed they recorded high profile sales during the year in view.
A member of Casket Makers Association of Abuja who spoke with Core Reporters said there was no doubt their members made a lot of quality sales last year courtesy of the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country.
According to our source, Casket making is a very lucrative business that only men and women with the lion hearts can venture into, adding that since his over 12 years in the business 2020 was the year he has made the highest sales.
The source further said, though they have been recording good sales in Kugbo Casket market even before last year but that, last year God used it to compensate them for their steadfastness in the business.
He stated that why 2020 was special to them is because they made high profile sales of their Caskets, stressing that unlike before where they sell Casket of mostly between one hundred thousand to two hundred and fifty thousand naira, but within the period in view, they sold Caskets worth millions of naira because of the caliber of persons that died; both as a result of COVID-19 and other complications.
When asked how they pray every morning before coming to their shops, he said they pray for their daily bread but refuse to mention that they pray for people to die so that they can make their sales.
“We don’t really pray for people to die so that we can make our sales, but we pray for daily bread. You know, people can’t stop dying. That is why we can’t stop making Casket, as long as people die we are bound to make sales but that doesn’t mean that we are praying for people to die.
“Honestly, 2020 was a year we’ll continue to pray it should come again though, many Nigerians were crying of hardship but we were smiling to the banks at every sale. One man’s food is another man’s poison,” he said.
