Kankia Felicitates Musawa on Conferment of Mairamar Kasar Hausa I Title

Katsina (Core Reporters) — The National Legal Adviser (NLA) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, has congratulated the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, on her conferment with the traditional title “Mairamar Kasar Hausa I,” meaning First Daughter of Hausa Land, by the Emir of Daura, Dr. Umar Faruk Umar.

Kankia described the honour as a significant recognition of Musawa’s contributions to the promotion and preservation of Hausa cultural heritage, as well as her growing profile in public service.

The APC National Legal Adviser said he had always believed that Musawa would attain a position that would enable her to represent Hausa land and its heritage at a significant level.

“I know one day she will earn a position representing Hausa land and its heritage,” Kankia said in his congratulatory message.

He described the conferment as particularly significant given Musawa’s current role as Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, where she oversees key sectors central to Nigeria’s cultural identity and creative development.

Kankia also recalled that Musawa had previously been described by some admirers as “Queen Amina of our time,” in reference to the legendary Hausa warrior queen, Amina of Zazzau.

According to him, the description reflects the expectations surrounding Musawa’s public role and her capacity to project the cultural identity, history and heritage of the Hausa people.

The traditional title was bestowed on Musawa by the Emir of Daura, one of the foremost traditional institutions in northern Nigeria.

Kankia urged the minister to regard the honour not merely as a personal achievement but as a responsibility to the people and heritage she has been called upon to represent.

He expressed confidence that Musawa would continue to use her office to advance Nigeria’s cultural heritage while strengthening the contribution of the creative and tourism economy to national development.

The APC chieftain further noted that the Federal Government’s growing emphasis on culture, tourism and the creative industries aligns with efforts to diversify the Nigerian economy, create jobs and promote national identity.
