In a congratulatory message, Oyetola praised Akinola’s integrity, intellect, and unwavering commitment to public service, noting that his leadership has consistently delivered meaningful results across various positions he has held.
The minister recalled Akinola’s dedicated service as his Chief of Staff during his tenure as Governor of Osun State and later at the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, where he demonstrated strategic leadership and excellence in policy implementation.
Oyetola also commended Akinola’s contributions as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Marine and Blue Economy before his appointment as the pioneer Managing Director and CEO of the South West Development Commission. He expressed confidence that Akinola’s experience and leadership would continue to promote regional development, economic growth, and institutional excellence across the South-West.
Describing the celebrant as a respected public policy expert with over three decades of experience in government, international development, academia, and the private sector, Oyetola highlighted Akinola’s significant contributions to development planning, economic reforms, and cross-sector collaboration.
He further noted that Akinola holds a doctorate in Agricultural Extension from the University of Ibadan and a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School as an Edward S. Mason Fellow. He also completed executive programmes at the University of Cambridge, Cranfield University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The minister prayed for God’s continued guidance, good health, and strength for the celebrant, expressing optimism that his vast experience and dedication to national development would continue to benefit Nigeria.
“Your life has been defined by service, excellence, and commitment to building stronger institutions and improving the lives of our people. I wish you many more years of good health, fulfilment, and impactful service to our nation,” Oyetola said.
