In a Democracy Day message issued on Friday, Prof. Adamu described June 12 as a historic reminder of the sacrifices made by patriots who fought for democratic governance and the collective responsibility of all Nigerians to build a prosperous and resilient nation.

He noted that democracy remains anchored on the principles of freedom, justice, accountability, and national unity, stressing that these values are essential for sustainable national development.

According to him, the Veterinary Council of Nigeria remains committed to its statutory mandate of regulating veterinary education and practice across the country through effective regulation, accreditation of training institutions, licensing of practitioners, and enforcement of professional standards.

The VCN President stated that the Council’s activities continue to support government efforts in strengthening food security, safeguarding public health through the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases, enhancing livestock productivity, promoting animal welfare, and facilitating safe trade in animals and animal products.

He emphasized that these contributions play a critical role in economic growth, job creation, and improving the overall well-being of Nigerians.

“As we celebrate this year’s Democracy Day, I urge all citizens to continue supporting democratic institutions and embracing the values of patriotism, peace, and responsible citizenship,” he said.

Prof. Adamu expressed optimism that through collective commitment and national unity, Nigeria would build a stronger livestock sector, a healthier population, and a more prosperous future for all citizens.

He also wished Nigerians a happy Democracy Day celebration.
