The Federal Government has intensified reforms in Nigeria’s examination system with the rollout of full Computer-Based Examinations (CBE) for the National Examinations Council, recording nearly a 90 percent reduction in examination malpractice and targeting the total elimination of examination fraud by 2027.

The commitment was reaffirmed during NECO’s Silver Jubilee celebration in Abuja, where the Federal Government highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening transparency, credibility, accessibility and global competitiveness in national examinations.

Representing Vice President Kashim Shettima, Barrister Bashir Maidugu stated that credible examinations remain critical to national development and human capital growth. He commended NECO’s adoption of digital innovation to enhance examination security and operational efficiency.

Speaking at the event, the Honourable Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, disclosed that NECO will commence full Computer-Based Examinations this year as part of efforts to modernise assessment systems nationwide.

According to the Minister, the deployment of CBE will enable real-time monitoring, faster detection of malpractice, and improved examination administration in line with global best practices.

The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to restoring integrity, expanding access and modernising the nation’s educational system through technology-driven reforms.
