Abuja (Core Reporters) As Nigeria marked democracy day on Thursday, a member representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya has commended the policies of President Bola Amhed Tinubu so far, while insisting that he will not allow Nigeria to become a one party state under his watch..
This commendation was made by the lawmaker when he spoke with journalists on the sideline of the 2025 Democracy Day celebration at the National Assembly.
According to him, Tinubu has proved himself to be a democrat and a defender of our hard earned freedom by choosing to address the joint session of the legislature to give his scorecard.
Specifically to allay the fears of many Nigerians who are afraid of the gale of defections going on within the opposition political parties, he had this to say,”the president does not laid down the rules of democracy , nor does he laid down the rules of political parties people should be affiliated with, i think a lot of people have made those decisions voluntarily and they have joined the progressive team.”
He acknowledged the progress made in the areas of social and economic development saying that, some of the policies being implemented by the administration are not meant to impoverish the masses but at the appropriate time, the investment will yield the anticipated result for the benefit of all.
While commending Mr, President for doing extremely well in the past 2 years, he wished him more fruitful years as he steers the ship to the desired destination
