Honorable Richard Harris Okonkwo. representing Idemili South and North Federal Constituency of Anambra State has commended President Bola Tinubu, for the. N3.5 trilion enmeshed for education, saying that it will. improve the standard of education in the country.

Hon Okonkwo also applauded Tinubu for prioritising other critical aspects of our national lives such as health, security among others, noting that though we are not yet there as a country but believes that we shall get there.

He said this in an interview with members of the National Assembly New Media Forum shortly after the presentation of the 2025 budget by President Bola Tinubu to the joint session of the national assembly on Wednesday at the national assembly, Abuja,.

On the N47.96 trillion budget proposal for 2025 as presented by President Tinubu, Hon Okonkwo said, compared to other nations, Nigeria is just scratching the surface. “When you compare our budget to that of other countries, you see that we are just scratching the surface. Countries in the Western world, especially with large populations, even in the southern Asian areas, you see that they are running a budget of hundreds of billions of dollars.”

The lawmaker assured that the parliament would make sure attend to the budget defense accordingly, while insisting that they will carry out their oversight to make sure the implementation of the 2025 budget is properly carried out.

The 2025 budget proposal, titled “The Budget of Restoration,” aims to address national priorities, rebuild the economy, and secure Nigeria’s future.

The proposed budget stands at N47.96 trillion, with key allocations including N4.91 trillion for Defence and Security, N4.06 trillion for Infrastructure, and N2.48 trillion for Health.
