A Frontline candidate for AMAC/ Bwari Federal Constituency in the 2023  general elections under the platform of the Labour Party (LP), Comrade Joshua Chinedu Obika, has vowed to bring to full functions a proper Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) where some of the prevalent rots and neglects of infrastructure can be addressed if elected.

Comrade Chinedu Obika the house of representative hopeful, also opined that he will ensured that the indigenous people of the FCT enjoys the dividend of democracy through the creation of a Mayoral office.

He made his position known ,when he played host to the some National Executives of the Middle Belt journalists Forum, led by it president , Comrade Jonathan Ipaa, at his Ecopolis Natural Resort and Event Center, Kubwa on Friday.

On why he is contesting the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency Comrade Obika said,  “I considered myself as a bonafide indigene of Abuja by my long standing history of stay as a settler, which has afforded me the opportunity to served as a councillor in BWARI Area Council in 1999.”

As part of his reason for chosen to vying for the position he said, ” Let me tell you that since 1999, FCT has not produced any articulated master plan with the much financial investment each year by the Federal Government. Infact ,if we go back to 1999 and put the budget together, FCT budget alone  can develop a nation.

” I also want you to note that in terms of providing good governance, the military had done better than the civilian administration in term  of infrastructures.

“From my ward here, there is a village called Jahi1 not up to 3 kilometers from Maitama, but schools in the village are built with mud blocks in this 21century. Whereas, billions of naira is spent on UBEC, but in FCT, where the president is residing our children are still learning on bear floors” he stated

Comrade Obika, also said  the issue of Mayorslship in FCT which has been a long history as agitated for by the people of the FCT can be actualized under the Labour Party leadership, with Peter Obi at the helms of affairs.

He, however, faulted the current representatives of the FCT for not taking the issue seriously and lacking proper presentation.

” I am a proponent and an absolute supporter of the Mayorship for FCT. The mayor can be created and we can still maintained a minister of the FCT, why the minister will be in charge of establishing infrastructure as representative of the president, the mayor can exist and be in charge of administration of the facilities to ensure day today to day running of the facilities.
This is with a view to creating efficiency” He added.
