By Gabriel Kekong
Abuja (Core Reporters) -Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have zoomed into the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco after cracking Brazil 3–1 in the semi-finals. Thus, they secured their first-ever appearance in the competition’s final.
The Nigerian youngsters produced a magnificent performance to overcome the South Americans, completing an outstanding journey that has seen them overcome several challenges since the beginning of the tournament.
The victory is particularly significant as it marks Nigeria’s first qualification for the final after nine appearances at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
It is also a major milestone for Nigerian women’s football and another demonstration of the country’s growing strength in youth football.
The Flamingos will now face Japan in the final on Saturday, November 7, after the Asian side eliminated defending champions DPR Korea.
Japan and North Korea finished 1–1 after regulation time before Japan triumphed in the penalty shootout, winning 4–1 to book their place in the final.
The final will therefore bring together two sides that have demonstrated remarkable determination throughout the competition.
