Speaker Abbas kick-starts more education, health, security projects in Kaduna
By Our Reporter
Kaduna (Core Reporters) The Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, continued groundbreaking for developmental projects in Kaduna State on Saturday, with education, health, and security taking the centre stage.
Speaker Abbas, who represents Zaria Federal Constituency, laid the foundations for three major construction projects across Sabon Gari Local Government Area of the state.
This is in continuation of a series of commissioning and foundation-laying of constituency projects, in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The first set of projects comprises the establishment of a new secondary school with a block of 10 classrooms, offices, and toilets within the premises of Saidu Primary School. There will also be a National Open University (NOUN) study centre, both in Samaru.
At Isa Chikaji Primary Healthcare Centre, the Speaker facilitated construction of a diagnostic centre as well as a 20-bed primary healthcare centre (PHC) at Zangon Dan Borno, both in Dogarawa.
Speaker Abbas also facilitated a police station under the Zaria Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force located within Sabon Gari.
Addressing the mammoth crowd that witnessed the ceremonies, the Speaker said, “A child entering Saidu Primary School should find a classroom that makes learning possible. A mother seeking treatment in Chikaji should receive a diagnosis without an exhausting journey. A young person in Dogarawa should have somewhere to learn, sit for an examination, and pursue a qualification.
“These are reasonable expectations. Meeting them is the business of government. That is the purpose of today’s programme. Across Sabon Gari, we are laying foundations for facilities that should expand opportunity, improve services, and strengthen public safety. We are also commissioning a twenty-bed primary healthcare centre at Zangon Dan Borno.”
He added, “But let us be clear. A groundbreaking begins an obligation. It does not discharge it. The ceremony ends today. The responsibility continues tomorrow.”
While noting that “our wider programme also includes a youth development centre,” Speaker Abbas stated that “its value will lie in what young people can do after passing through its doors.”
The Speaker emphasised that “training must connect to work. Skills must connect to enterprise. Talent must find a practical outlet.”
Speaker Abbas noted, “Meanwhile, existing commitments demand sustained attention: the 320-bed male and female hostel at NILEST; Aminu Primary School’s renovation; the runway extension at NCAT; and the faculty buildings at Ahmadu Bello University’s main campus and Faculty of Social Sciences.
“We will finish what we have started. Finish it properly. Finish it safely. Finish it for the people who need it. The projects identified under the 2026 Budget extend this development ambition: a new terminal and runway for commercial flights at NCAT, a library, a rural market, a mega town hall, the upgraded polo field, the reconstructed township stadium and roads.
“Facilitating a project carries a duty to follow it through. I accept that duty. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda must find practical expression in communities such as ours. Its promise becomes meaningful when education becomes accessible, healthcare becomes dependable, and enterprise becomes possible.”
