Senator Effiong Bob, Wife Celebrate Comfort FM Staff Over South-South’s Best Radio Station Award

Uyo (Core Reporters) — The Executive Chairman of Comfort 95.1 FM, Senator Effiong Bob, and his wife, Mrs Comfort Effiong Bob, have celebrated the station’s staff following its emergence as the Best Radio Station in South-South Nigeria at the 7th Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards (NBMA) 2026.

The station’s Head of Programmes, George Iniabasi Essien, popularly known as Mighty George, who holds a Guinness World Record, also emerged as Nigeria’s Best Sportscaster at the awards ceremony held in Lagos last week.

Senator Bob congratulated the management and staff of the station on the achievement, noting that the award reflected the station’s ability to distinguish itself among more than 90 functional radio stations across the six states of the South-South geopolitical zone: Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Edo.

The legal luminary attributed the station’s success to teamwork, excellence, passion, creativity, integrity and professionalism, which he described as values embedded in the organisation’s corporate culture.

Also speaking, the chairman’s wife, Mrs Comfort Effiong Bob, attributed the achievement to the grace of God, who, she said, had endowed the staff with the wisdom and capacity to advance the station’s vision.

She commended the staff for their dedication and commitment, urging them to sustain the standard that had earned the station recognition.

Earlier, the management team, led by the station’s Executive Managing Consultant, Samuel Enobong Akpan, an experienced broadcast media manager and member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, welcomed the chairman, his wife and other dignitaries to the celebration.

Akpan said Comfort FM had been deliberate in its programming and pursuit of excellence, adding that the station’s commitment to quality broadcasting culminated in the three awards it received at the 7th NBMA.

The high point of the celebration was the formal presentation of the award plaques to Senator Bob and his wife by Akpan and Mighty George.

The presentation was accompanied by dancing, group photographs and the popping of champagne as management and staff celebrated the station’s accomplishments.

The event attracted several personalities, including Hon. Emmanuel Obot, as well as major clients of the station, among them Pastor Inim Junior and Mr Nkeruwem Onung.

Members of the management team, presenters, analysts and other staff also attended the celebration. Some of the station’s flagship programmes, including Issues in the News, The Gladiators and its sports programme, were represented by their presenters and analysts.

Listeners, fans and administrative staff were also part of the gathering, which brought together the station’s management, employees, clients and other stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of Comfort 95.1 FM, Uyo.

As part of the celebration, Senator Bob and his wife presented cash gifts to the staff in appreciation of their contributions to the station’s success.

Hon. Obot, Onung and Inim Junior also made cash donations, drawing excitement and appreciation from those present.
