Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South senatorial district at the senate has berated the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo over the hot exchange of words with lawmakers at the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Sen. Ubah insisted that Keyamo ought to know that, the Senate has oversight function over the appointee of the President, adding that Keyamo was not even a substantive minister and wonders what must have given him the gut to engaged the senator in that manner.


It would be recalled that National Assembly was a theatre of absurd as Keyamo engaged  lawmakers on Tuesday in a disagreement over recruitment of 774,000 Public Works Programme, under the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
Specifically, the joint Committee of the National Assembly on Labour sought to find out the method of selection of a 20-man Committee from each state for the programme.


While addressing newsmen on Wednesday, Senator Ubah condemned the action of the minister, saying the duty of the legislature is to checkmate the executive in a democratic government.


“Appointees of the President should understand that the Senate has oversight function over their ministries, meanwhile keyamo is not even a substantive Minister” Ubah opined.

In another development, the chairman of Ifeanyi Ubah FC of Nnewi
has described as a milestone the creation of five new zonal headquarters for the Nigeria Police Force with zone 13 situated in Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra state to be in charge of Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambra state Police Command.

He also thanked the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu whom he said is working to make sure the confident Mr President reposed on him is accomplish
