2026 Budget: North Central Development Gets Boost with ₦140bn Budget Approval
The Senate Committee on the North Central Development Commission has approved the sum of ₦140 billion as budgetary allocation for the Commission’s 2026 fiscal year.
Chairman of the Committee, Senator Titus Zam, announced the approval following the committee’s budget defence session at the National Assembly on Monday, stating that the allocation is aimed at accelerating development across the North Central region.
Senator Zam explained that the approved funds would be directed toward critical infrastructure, security intervention, agricultural development, and humanitarian support programmes designed to address the challenges facing states in the region.
He emphasized the committee’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the utilization of public funds, noting that the Commission must ensure strict compliance with budgetary provisions and deliver measurable impact to communities.
According to him, the intervention agency is expected to prioritize projects that promote economic growth, tackle displacement caused by insecurity, and improve access to basic social services.
The committee assured stakeholders that it would sustain oversight functions to guarantee effective implementation of the 2026 budget in line with the mandate of the North Central Development Commission.
